CliffyB was supposed to appear on the Jimmy Fallon show last night to announce Epic Game's upcoming game. However, he has since had to reschedule to Monday. Microsoft has gone ahead and begun advertising the game anyway on Xbox Live despite it not being announced by CliffyB himself yet.



Rumor has it that this game will feature underwater combat and mech suits. I'll continue to update as we come closer to the April 2011 release date.

I can't wait to play more laggy multiplayer battles with just the shotgun =D.

I think everyone expected a gears 3. I wanna see some pics of gameplay or something.

^^ Gears has just as much lag as any other game, IMO.

^ They announced right after gears 1 that it would be a trilogy, so a 3rd was a for sure thing. I have a feeling they might come out with a 4th though, but who knows.

My buddy had told me about Cliffy being on yesterday (before he was bumped), and I had wondered if it would be Gears 3, but I assumed it was another XBLA game from Epic. Anyway, I'm super excited. I started playing Gears 2 again, and then Gears 3 gets announced, so I'm pumped. Can't wait for more details.

Never got to play 2 much, but I might get it again before I play 3.

Too bad they delayed the announcement for Justin Bieber.....

Confirmed:

- 4 player co op
- Double barrel shotgun (weapon)
- Pendulum Wars Lancer (weapon)
- Story takes place 18 months after Gears 2 (after the events of the 4th book)
- One location is a city known as 'Char', a ghost town full of ashed corpses leftover from the Scorched Earth operation. This is the location of the trailer.
- Female COG Soldiers
- The chick is confirmed to be Anya.
- The 4 player co op will allow you to play as "Marcus, Dom, Cole, Baird and a variety of other characters".
- Dom's beard and aging is due to him having difficulties dealing with his losses.
- The lambent can mutate during battle.

Random notes:
- Dom has a beard, and apparently is very accepting of death now (WELL, he did lose his brother, kids, and wife, so he's got nothing left now). Rod confirmed that his beard and premature aging is due to him having a hard time dealing with his losses.
- Cole has a bandanna and is bald. It looks like he might be going bald. I think there's some hair on the sides of his head (not confusing it for the bandanna).
- Delta is either wearing Stranded Armor., or just don't have their sleeves on their armor due to summer.

Definitely a very emotional game and not only because of Dom's inner turmoil about Maria.

The theme of Marcus & Dom being like brothers is going to shine a lot, I believe. Dom is just about to give up, he is not fighting back, but Marcus is still fighting to take care of his little "brother", he can't lose him like he lost Carlos. There will probably be close calls, it's going to be intense and tragic.

It's emotional because Anya is emulating her dead mother, Helena. She's no longer a pencil pusher at CIC, but a rugged frontline soldier like her mum was. She's not only taking the war into her own hands with a Lancer because she wants to help, but to me it's like she's proving herself to a ghost, and to the others. It's just sad.

I don't know about the rest of the characters... perhaps the novels will bring us more insight on that.

It's probably gonna be sad and emotional.

Well, looks like I'll be hanging onto my 360 for a little while longer.

- The story is written by Karen Traviss, the chick who wrote the books. (sweet)
- There are points in the campaign that you play as completely different people, even when Marcus and Dom aren't present.
- The squad has disbanded, everyone is now a stranded.
- The double barrel shotgun does more damage, less range, and a longer reload time than the original shotty.
- There will be improved Reion filtering in Multiplayer. (a lot less matches getting matched up with people overseas, etc).
- You will be able to stay in a lobby, unlike in Gears 1 and 2, where you are taken back to the menus after each match.
- Some more Gears 1 maps will be returning.
- You can kick someone as you're vaulting over cover.
- There will be a ton of new executions and there will actually be an added incentive to use them in multiplayer.
- The immulsion is affecting everyone, not just the Locust.
- There haven't been any Locust sightings between Gears 2 and 3 (which doesn't make sense to me, because I could have sworn they ran into Locusts a few times in the 2nd book, which started 3 hours after Gears 2 ended. The book mostly dealt with COG vs Stranded, instead of COG vs Locusts though.)
- Anya's transition to soldier will be explained a lot in the 3rd upcoming book (I'm sure it'll be a lot with her mother).

I'm predicting:

- Dom dies, Marcus and Anya have a baby and name it Dominic.

The locust queen and Adam Fenix were both scientists working together and have created the locusts as super(meta) soldiers. Locust queen tested on herself and went crazy.(As did other locusts.)She may have used to have been a lover of Adam, but he left, soon after her craziness, experiments, or she went too far for his liking. I think this explains all the info Adam had on the locusts and why the locusts had Adam's research. Locust Queen lies to Marcus saying she's his mother to stop him from killing her. She escapes assembles Locust and tries to take on the Gears one last time with the help of Skorge. Marcus kills who he thinks is his mother to end it. Later learn she isn't. Some stopping Lambant stuff probably use locust blood or something and then the end. (That's my general prediction plot summary.)

Confirmed weapons are:

-- Pendulum Lancer: Just like the other Lancer, except it has a bayonet instead of the chainsaw. It "kicks like a mule", and is not something you'd wanna use across the map. It's meant for a short/mid-range rusher.
-- Modern Lancer: no new info on this, but I'm assuming you can expect the same as the other 2 Gears games.
-- Gnasher Shotgun (recently confirmed): It's gonna be the "standard" weapon for shotgunners and it's assumed to have the same general stats as previous games.
-- Double barrel Shotgun: Like the Gnasher, except it is stronger, has less range, and a longer reload time. It's capable of taking out 2 targets at once, if lined up properly.
-- Hammerburst (recently confirmed): Similar to how it was in gears 2, except it now has a scope added to it. It will be effective at mid-long range.

-This is the effectiveness of weapons, from short range to long range:
Sawn off -> Shotgun -> Pendulum Lancer -> Lancer -> Hammerburst

- Players are encouraged to pick their weapon loadout based on the map, and not their personal preference. The new level designer is trying to make sure certain maps cater to certain weapons.

- It's confirmed that you will have to choose one of the two shotguns, and one of the three AR's for each loadout.

- Stopping Power is confirmed to come back. (I hated stopping power. Worst addition to Gears 2 IMO)

I never finished Gears 1. I got to the first part of chapter 2, the part where you have to go and guide, I think Dom, to the other side without leaving him in the shadows.

I have mixed feeling about stopping power.
It stopped rushes but sometimes it was really annoying with lancers.
Also I think Pendulum lancers are cool but, will probably be really annoying. With people complaining about two pieces and melees already imagine their opinions of a gun with stronger melees.

The new shotty is now capable of killing THREE people at once.

The campaign is complete and playable now.

The story will focus a lot on Marcus' relationship with his father and Dom dealing with Maria.

It looks like there's some new COG that has sunglasses on.

Could it be Clay? Because from what I know, they haven't revealed him yet in game. Also, the sunglasses might be to make him different from his brothers.

Hmmm, maybe it could be Clay. I couldn't get a good look, but in an interview with Rod, there was some artwork behind him, showing Marcus, Anya, and what REALLY looks like a COG with sunglasses.

- Cliffy wants some variety in DLC besides big map packs.
- There will be a lot more emotional range in Marcus.
- Adam Fenix is hinted to be alive still.

Well, I remember seeing a thread yesterday in Epic forums with scans and translations of some Russian magazine but, I can't find it anymore. I don't know how trustworthy the translation was though...
Well, some of the information was about confirming water(probably in the flooded Hollow) and that casual mode is made more easier.
